RE: Whats the best way to build a community?
I would say, just make a board about something YOU like to do, I.E. sports, computers, dancing, etc.
That will be sort of useful, you will gain people with common interests, which will also help with not having a bunch of members with different personalities and interests, and you might have less disputes between people with different views of things. Thats just some of my opinion |

I mean how to actually get these members to join, post and stay active within your community.

Ah, well, I dont know then
![]() Your idea for adding a post count before being able to download is a good way, but people will probably just post ten spam posts, download and leave. Maybe advertise a little, that might get you some more members that will actually post. |

RE: Whats the best way to build a community?
That's why you introduce rules on this. 10 spam posts = permanent ban, no warnings. You also raise the characters to like 20-30 per post so then you have to type something decent. I'm also not on about MyBBDesign in general, I mean all forums.
I think that SEO, Meta Tags, general advertising on other boards and communities, affiliating, link exchanging are all great ways to get your forum noticed. |

Yeah, adding your forum to directories as well, that usually works well if you can get a high page rank on them.

Maybe you should make users post 2 times a day to download or something.

Hmm, not a bad idea. But remember, this thread isn't about MyBBDesign, it's about building a community up in general, haha.

RE: Whats the best way to build a community?
I always make about 100 threads (with the others team members) before opening the forums. It's very disappointing joining a community and don't have nothing to post. And creating threads is kinda boring for new users
![]() Then just attract new members, do some parterships and you're done! btw contests are also very important, imo. Give users nice prizes! |
