Question about addons?

I notice that all of them are in the boardurl/addons/ directory (in the demo at least) so it necessary to have them installed in a folder or is it possible to have them installed in the root of the board?

They are meant to be in the special folder to avoid conflicts with other MyBB files and plugins and to share data between the addons (for example the most addons do use tinymce WYSIWYG editor and so you do need the editor only one time).

You can try to run them in your mainfolder but you'll have to adjust the paths then.
I highly recommend to run them from the addons/* folder.
