you should follow the installation instructions depending on your OS

If you're running php7 then the official runkit isn't compatible. There is an unofficial branch up at github here: https://github.com/TysonAndre/runkit7

I just followed the instructions on that page and everything was up and running in a few minutes. The instructions are as follows:
